In brief
Training courses in refrigeration technology and air conditioning systems were introduced in 2017. The aim is to provide students with knowledge through theory and practical training in refrigeration and air conditioning technology, installation, service, diagnosis, assembly and repair as well as different types of RAC systems.
In this program, students acquire the skills necessary to diagnose and repair the latest technology mechanical, electrical and electronic systems in the RAC field. Through theory lessons and practical training units, students learn to carry out the work correctly and precisely and to ensure a high standard of quality.
Today, refrigeration and air conditioning technology is based on intelligent and sophisticated technology. At the BSDU, students are taught the basics as well as in-depth specialist knowledge. The training is designed to provide the future specialists with technical and management skills.
Goals
Creating a consistent implementation framework for skills development in the RAC, providing opportunities through high quality long and short term skills training, providing gainful employment and ensuring career progression that meets trainees’ expectations.
- Cross-sector establishment in the nationally and internationally accepted standard.
- Training of specialists through a comprehensive teaching and training program.
- Ensure high quality and internationally recognized long-term education, which will ultimately help to create a highly skilled workforce for the RAC industry.
- Develop and maintain a network of highly qualified teachers and trainers in the RAC field.
Semester
- 1./3. and 5th semester full-time training at the BSDU (80% practice, 20% theory)
- 2./4. and 6th semester in the industry. Scholarships from companies possible.
Degrees
(Entry and exit possible after each semester)
- Certificate (6 months)
- Diploma (12 months)
- Advanced diploma (24 months)
- Bachelor’s degree in vocational training (36 months)
Career opportunities
Students can be employed in various functions in refrigeration and air conditioning technology. They are able to set up their own business in the service, repair or consulting sector. Research, development, design and applications for all well-known brands in the refrigeration and air conditioning industry are possible.

The training rooms are equipped with various types of cooling and air-conditioning systems and other equipment for training students. This includes
- Air conditioners
- Air conditioning – Cassette type
- Air conditioning – type VRV
- All components of air conditioning systems
- Tools for the assembly, installation and repair of air conditioning systems
- Central air conditioning machine room, ventilation units, ducts and controls
