In brief

Imagine a world without computers, cell phones and the Internet. Where would we be without electricity and the corresponding skilled workers? These play an important role in shaping modern society.

We offer students a diverse environment for their electrician training. It was launched in 2017 to provide electrical specialists with comprehensive knowledge of electrical legislation, directives and
-standards. Students are trained in the installation, maintenance and testing of electrical systems and devices in domestic, commercial and industrial environments.

After completing their studies, they will have in-depth knowledge of safety regulations, project work and maintenance of industrial plants. BSDU trains students with in-depth know-how based on the Swiss dual education system, which combines theory and vocational training.

Goals

  • Quality training in the field of electrical engineering
  • Integration of theory and on-the-job training for the Indian industry
  • Training specialists who can meet the growing requirements
  • Maintaining the high standard

Semester

  • 1./3. and 5th semester full-time training at the BSDU (80% practice, 20% theory)
  • 2./4. and 6th semester in the industry. Scholarships from companies possible.

Degrees

(Entry and exit possible after each semester)

  • Certificate (6 months)
  • Diploma (12 months)
  • Advanced diploma (24 months)
  • Bachelor’s degree in vocational training (36 months)

Career opportunities

  • Over 25 % of all jobs in India are in the electrical engineering sector.
  • A person with electrical skills can be employed in the fields of electronics, measurement and control technology, robotics, mechanical engineering, etc.
  • Aside from conventional electrical professions such as power generation, distribution, transmission, manufacturing and supply, qualified electrical professionals are well positioned to solve a variety of the critical issues facing society today.
  • Employment opportunities for electricians exist in both the private and public sectors, such as railroads, civil aviation, electric utilities, electrical design and consulting firms, and all types of manufacturing industries.
  • Companies like ABB, Bajaj International Private Ltd, Crompton Greaves Limited, Siemens Ltd, Reliance Power Ltd, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Coal India Limited (CIL), Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), Centre for Electronics Design and Technology and Wipro Lighting are among the major employers hiring electrical professionals.

Infrastructure and equipment

The premises for practical work are equipped with all the necessary tools and state-of-the-art machinery. These are comparable to the devices used in the industry. These include single-phase and three-phase transformers, single-phase and three-phase induction machines, synchronous machines, various DC machines, digital AC-DC drives, PLCs, advanced electrical machine trainer kits and digital IC trainer kits, etc. Other hardware includes variable and fixed AC voltage power supplies, inductive and capacitive loads, ohmite rheostats, changeover switches, measuring devices such as digital multimeters, wattmeters, tachometers, etc. Cutaway models are also available for several models.
